If you have not been persuaded to buy a Gamecube yet by all the advertising, articles, and great looking games, you are obviously VERY stubborn. So here are 30 pointers as to why buying a Gamecube is a step in the right direction.

1) THE GREAT PRICE

Gamecube is the cheapest of the three main consoles. At just £130, it is £70 cheaper than both X-box and PS2, both which are £200.

2) HUGE SELECTION OF RELEASE GAMES

At release day, 3rd May, there were over 20 games out for the Gamecube, ranging from football games like 2002 Fifa World Cup to racing games like Burnout. Theres something for everyone.

3) ITS NINTENDO!!!!

For those of you who havent experienced the sheer brilliance of a Nintendo game, here is Nintendo in a nutshell FANTASTIC. Whether its classics like Mario, Donkey Kong or Metroid, or original games like Wave Race or Pikmin, Nintendo always manage to deliver fine quality.

4) SHIGSY!

The man who invented Mario, Zelda and many more gaming legends works for Nintendo, and creates fabulous games for the little cube of joy.

5) MARIO!

If you havent heard of him, you must have been stuck in a permanent Big Brother house all your life. He is probably the most well-known computer game character in the world and hes on the GC, starring in Super Mario Sunshine, 100 Marios and many more to come.

6) THE FOCUS OF GAMING

The Gamecube does NOT support DVDs, Music CDs or anything else other than Gamecube game minidisks this was to keep the focus entirely on games for the Gamecube only games will work!

7) LOADING TIMES

PS2 and X-box can take minutes to load a game, and take ages between levels and games etc. Some Gamecube games take absolutely NO time to load Luigis Mansion is a prime example, as it does not have any noticeable loading times AT ALL. Period. Fantastic.

8) CONTROLLER DESIGN

As with the N64, Nintendo have again managed to create a controller that feels brilliant to play with, and works well you can reach all the buttons perfectly, and there are enough buttons to do anything on a game.

9) THE SMALLEST CONSOLE

Gamecube is the smallest of the three consoles, which isnt actually too hard, as X-box and Ps2 are big, black, bulky horrors, while Gamecube is small, purple (or black) and light. Nice.

10) A CARRY HANDLE!

Nintendo has kindly fixed a handle to the back of the console, making it easy to carry around. A nice little addition.

11) A REASON TO GET NGC MAGAZINE!

Gamecube gives you the reason to buy NGC Magazine! A great mag featuring previews, reviews, news, cheats, tips, walkthroughs and much more all for the Gamecube and just for £3.50! Get it!

12) GREAT COMPANY SUPPORT

There are loads of great companies making games for the Gamecube Namco, Sega, Activision who will make sure Gamecube has enough games to keep everyone happy.

13) RESIDENT EVIL

One of the PS2s greatest trilogies was the Resident Evil series but now Nintendo has nicked it! All the Resident Evil games will be coming to Gamecube and not PS2. Look at those PS2 owners crying.

14) STAR WARS

Everyone wants to swing a light-saber and fly around in a TIE-fighter which is why Star Wars works so well as a game and its only on Gamecube! Hurrah! Ahem.

15) GRAPHICS BETTER THAN PS2

The visuals for the Gamecube are much better than the PS2 unfortunately, X-box has slightly better graphics than the Gamecube; but remember the prices

16) AGE RANGE

Gamecube is said to have baby games so where do Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil fit into that? There are games for the younger generation, and the older. Nice, wide range.

17) DIFFERENT COLOURS TO CHOOSE FROM

The controllers come in three different colours Purple, Black and Purple/Clear. The console comes in Purple and Black, but in Japan you can get it in Orange, which may come over here.

18) MINIDISCS

The Gamecube uses mini-discs to store its games this is the reason why the loading times are so short.

19) GAMECUBE ORGANISER

If you turn your Gamecube on without inserting a game, an organiser will appear, with which you can fix the date, organise your memory cards and adjust the screen and volume. Complicated? Not at all.

20) THIRD PARTY ACCESSORIES

Find the official Nintendo Memory Card too expensive? Dont like the design of the official controller? Well look no further than third-party accessories! Companies like Wild Things and retailers like Game have brought out their own brands of Gamecube goodness at cheaper prices and differently quality. Although the official products are probably the best, its good to have a choice.

21) SEGA ALLIANCE

Having ditched the Dreamcast, Sega immediately recognised the Gamecubes capabilities and started work on games for it. Super Monkey Ball or Sega Soccer Slam anyone? Thought so. And dont forget the second most famous game character (Only Mario stands in his way) Sonic the Hedgehog. Yep, Sega will be a great help to boost the Gamecube sales.

22) SLOW-DOWN? WHAT SLOW-DOWN?

When too much is going on at a time a game can tend to slow down. You will rarely see this on the Gamecube. On Star Wars: Rogue Leader, hundreds of TIE fighters will be zooming around the screen, but it just WILL NOT slow down. I have noticed though that on Luigis Mansion, the game sometimes suffers slow-down when you enter a new room. Its rare though.

23) REAL WORLD TIME

Some games like Animal Crossing and Star Wars use the actual real time in the game for example, on the Tatooine Training Level on Star Wars, the sky will become light in the day, and dark in the evening. Amazing or what!

24) BROADBAND INTERNET?

On the bottom of the Gamecube there are two connections for Serial Ports. If Internet connection is coming Gamecubes way, be sure that it will be broadband. Speed of the highest calibre youll feel it!

25) EXPANSION PACK?

Also on the bottom is another connection. Will this space be used for an expansion pack to be plugged in to make the Gamecube even better? Only time will tell.

26) GC/GBA LINK-UP

The Game Boy Advance can link up with the Gamecube using a special cable. This feature will be used in many games you can virtually use your GBA as a controller. Sounds good, no?

27) LEARNING FROM THEIR MISTAKES

When the N64 launched, it wasnt planned very well. Nintendo didnt import enough N64s to Europe. Also, the N64 was priced too high. And there was very NO advertising in Europe for it. It all changes now thankfully, as Nintendo have learnt from their mistakes. Enough Gamecubes to go around, a VERY reasonable price, and advertising by the dozen. Well done to them.

28) NINTENDO VIP

When you buy your Gamecube, you will notice a Nintendo VIP code on a slip of paper. Type this code in on www.nintendovip.com to get loads of free stuff! You will also find Nintendo VIP codes in all Nintendo Gamecube games! Free Stuff cant be bad!

29) SUPER SMASH BROS MELEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The best ever fighting game returns to Gamecube this reason alone is good enough to get a Gamecube! Featuring over 20 main characters from your favourite games, this game will last you MONTHS, YEARS even! Get this or go to hell!

30) FINAL FANTASY!

Finally (How appropriate), the fact that the next games in the Final Fantasy series are coming to Gamecube is another reason why getting a Gamecube is essential.

So, 30 reasons to get a Gamecube. This not convinced you? Either you didnt read them probably or youre lying.
