Once again it has been left up to Nintendo to show the other gaming companies how to make video games and this time they did it with wave race. This game shows how Jet Ski games should be like. The water just speaks for its self. It look so realistic, you could dive in the TV and have a swim in the waves! There are 8 different courses to choose from. 5 at the start and then you get a new course when you complete a difficulty level. There are also 5 different weather conditions to chose from, ranging from sunny to stormy. There are also 8 different characters to choose from. Each character has his/her strong points and week points, e.g. Akria Hayami has a great acceleration but a poor top speed and strength, while Rob Haywood (yes he was in 1080 snow boarding) has poor acceleration, but a great top speed and strength.
There is also a fair few modes to chose from: 1. Championship-where you race for your life around fast tight courses. If you win a 5, 6, or 7 day circuit (difficulty level) then you will get a new course. 2. Time attack- try to beat your best time. 3. Stunt Mode- pull off breath taking stunts and amaze your friends. 4. Multi-Player- play your friends in a 4-player race. 5. Free Roam- go around any course at your pass as you look for shortcuts. 6. Tutorial- learn how to pull off stunts and jumps for big points in the Stunt Mode. 7. Options- fiddle with the sound and more.
The thing that brought me to Wave Race: Blue storm was that the game was easy to play and hard to master and basically the graphics drew me in. The races are tight too and any thing can happen. You can be winning a race one second and all it takes is a small crash and you can be last. Also try not to crash (obviously) because the racer takes about 5 seconds to get back on his/her jet ski and if you are near the end of a champion race it can mean the difference of proceeding to the next race or not (you will need a certain amount of points to get to the next race).
