Captain Olimar is taking a well earned break from his home world into outer space. On his way his space ship hits a comet and crashes down to a strange near by planet. When he wakes up he realises that his ship is missing 30 parts. And to make matters worse is that his life support suit only has 30 days of breathable air left (because the planet has a poisonous gas called OXYGEN). He has no choice but to look for the missing parts.
When you start playing the game, and you have never played it be for, dont be surprised if you dont have a clue what you are doing. You just have to look around and try to find the onion (the place where the Pikmin live). Once you find it a red Pikmin will pop out and you have to pull it out of the ground. Once it is sprouted then you can then start collecting more and more Pikmin by killing plants with red, yellow or blue pods on them and collecting red blue or yellow pods that lie on the floor. Soon you will have an army of Pikmin. Once you have enough you can push boxes out of the way ad knock down walls by ordering the Pikmin with the C stick. You can also throw the Pikmin by grabbing them with A and stop the Pikmin dead by pressing X and recall them with the B button. The C stick is very important in Pikmin because that is the best way to pick up ship parts and dead enemies and attack an alive enemy. You can also throw the Pikmin on these things but it is harder and less accurate.
Once you have enough ship parts you can go to another part of the world and get even more ship parts. There are 5 places to go in the world where the 30 ship parts have dropped. There first real enemies wont come until you get to the second place, The Forest of Hope. Hear you will find the most famous of all the Pikmin enemies, the spotty Bulborbs. There are big ones, that sleep all the time, and small ones. The big Bulborbs may look tough but they are relatively easy to beat but they can eat a lot of Pikmin in one go so it is best to attack from behind. The smaller Bulborbs are a lot more lively than their bigger brothers but they cant eat as many Pikmin though. There are also some bugs but they are not really a problem. Once you kill an enemy get Pikmin to tack t back to their Onions so you can raise more Pikmin. Remember you can NEVER have enough Pikmin. But keep in mind that you can only have 100 Pikmin out on the field at any one time. As you look around the Forest of Hope you will come across a new type of Pikmin. The yellow Pikmin. These Pikmin can carry bomb rocks to blow down walls and help kill enemies. Any way, try to raise the yellow Pikmin as quickly as possible because they are the only Pikmin that can get the most important part of the ship. Which is the radar because it shows where all the other space ship parts are and will help you complete the game with much more ease. There are 9 space ship parts in the Forest of Hope and one mini boss which is a big bug which fires large rocks at you. To defeat it you need to throw Pikmin in the bugs mouth when it sucks in air and then he will exposes his back. So just throw Pikmin on his back and soon he will be dead.
Once you have enough ship parts you go on to the next place in the Pikmin world. The next Place is The Forest Navel were you can get a new type of Pikmin, the blue Pikmin. These Pikmin can breath under water. In this level u will have to learn to use all three types of Pikmin as a team to get some of the ship parts. You will probably tend to use the red Pikmin most on this level because they cant be set on fire by all the fire breathing blowhogs. There are two mini bosses in this level, Beady Long Legs who isnt to hard and Puff-stool who isnt too tough either but he can turn all your Pikmin against you if you are not careful (which is quite funny). The next place the captain visits is The Distant Spring which doesnt have a mini boss of such but does have the most annoying enemy off all because he doesnt kill the Pikmin, just pick them up and plants them some where else which is a pain in the ass after a while, but the good news is that he isnt very hard to beat (but most of the time you wont be bothered). The level is mainly water and not the most fun of levels. There are a few new enemies to fight as well.
The final level isnt really that important if you dont have enough time (you will need about two days). It is the hardest level but like all the other levels, you will not need to use much brainpower. The boss of all the game is the Emperor Bulblax and to kill him you have to sacrifice your yellow Pikmin as they will have to be thrown into the Emperors mouth and get eaten so you can kill it. Expect a lot of dead Pikmin at the end of the battle.
I wont spoil the end of the game for you but it is screaming out for a sequel and I have heard that Pikmin 3 is on the cards.
